Message from the President
As I write this, there's a chill in the air that tells me summer
is waning while Newcomers Club is doing just the opposite! Our program
year got off to a great start in September with the Newcomers/Alumni
Barn Dance at Fort Edmonton park and our first evening social/general
meeting at the Riverbend Library. If you missed either one, don't
despair'there's lots more fun to come. You'll notice that a couple
new activities have been added this month- the walking group, fun
lunch, and others are off and running. As a new member you should
expect to hear from the Convener of any groups you expressed an
interest in on your membership application. If for some reason you
do not, call the Convener. I know this isn't easy when you're new,
but we've all been in your shoes and we're easy to talk to and look
forward to getting to know you better.
I'd like to welcome a new member to our Executive Board, our new
Directory of Charities, Cassie. Rhonda is also up for nomination
as our new Secretary. I appreciate these ladies stepping up to fill
an urgent need in our Club.
In anticipation of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I want to
express my gratitude for all the new friendships I have found in
Edmonton among Newcomers and I wish the same warm welcome for all
of you.
See
you at the Monthly Evening Social on the 17th!!!
Yours in friendship,
Amy Nelson |
