Message from the President
I hope you are enjoying this extended mild fall weather as much
as I am. If this is your first winter in Edmonton, let me warn you
this is not typical, so take advantage while it lasts!! We had a
wonderful turn out for the monthly evening social at That’s
Aroma and have made plans for next month to try an Ethiopian
restaurant. See inside the Newsletter for details. During our brief
meeting at the restaurant, we elected Rhonda as our new
Secretary and Betty as Treasurer. My thanks to both
these women, and I remind everyone that the position of Vice-
President / Director of Convenors is still open.
Our PR chair, Rebecca , and her Assistant, Andrea
, have been hard at work doing weekly PR blitzes in various
parts of the city. This can actually be a lot of fun—lunch out is
usually on the agenda—and if you have some time to give, call
one of them to volunteer. Getting our name out around town and
attracting new members is what keeps our club vibrant. We are
about 40 members strong right now—a very good start to the
year. Last month you should have gotten a membership list.
Sending out a new list each month as we add new members is
impractical, so please hang on to your list and add the names and
contact info for new members when you see them in the
Newsletter. Virginia will send out another updated list in the
spring.
Finally, I hope you are enjoying your membership. To get the
most out of the Newcomers Club, pick a few activities that you
would like to attend regularly. This is the best way to get to know
some of the other women. We had hoped to join our Alumni for
Craft Night, but they have such a large group of women involved
that they cannot accommodate any more. So if you are one of
those who signed up as being interested, please consider
convening a group for Newcomers. Simply call and I will pass on
ideas and directions our Alumnae group have graciously offered
to share with us.
See you at the Monthly Evening Social.
Yours in friendship,
Amy Nelson |
